Walk and Talk with the Lynnfield Historical Society

Discover Lynnfield, Historic walks and talks around town. In this program, we will lead short tours throughout Lynnfield, delving into the historical significance of each selected location. The events will be advertised through Facebook Events and posts as well as on our website, but will not require pre-registration. Just come at the announced meeting time and place, wearing comfortable shoes and, in some cases, sunscreen and bug spray.
All Discover Lynnfield Events are sponsored and organized by the Lynnfield Historical Society, preserving and promoting Lynnfield history since 1954.

Kallenberg Quarry/Skull Cliff Hike
Host: Lynnfield Historical Society
Come hear of one of Lynnfield’s earliest industries and how a mysterious railroad graffiti artist transformed its remains into a work of art. We will also discuss the preservation of Lynn Woods and the odd group of spiritualists that gathered there in the 19th century. This will be a somewhat rigorous 90 minute hike. Please wear appropriate footwear.

Lynnfield’s Lower Main Street Walk
Host: Lynnfield Historical Society
Short walk through time on Lynnfield’s lower Main St. Walk the Partridge Island Trail where natives inhabited Wigwam Meadows. Discover the oldest house in Lynnfield and hear of the tragedy that occurred there. Learn about Rumbolt’s Grove and Dairy Farm which operated various businesses including a popular picnic ground.
